The mission of Prosper West San Antonio is to foster economic development, promote the development and redevelopment of real estate within its target area, create viable urban communities, and preserve the character, culture, and history of the Westside.
The vision is a vibrant Westside community where people want to live, work, and visit.
Economic prosperity on the Westside of San Antonio requires a holistic approach to the entire Westside ecosystem including real estate, small business, infrastructure, workforce, placemaking, promotion, etc. Our approach is to maximize existing assets, remove barriers to opportunities, and to close system gaps in each of these areas. Our Impact Committees, made up of passionate and proud members of the community, help to identify these opportunities and move them forward in partnership with our board, staff, and other community partners.
We serve a 15-square mile target area on San Antonio’s historic Westside. It is primarily Hispanic, includes a population of approximately 103,000, and has historically suffered from neglect, disinvestment, high poverty, and low educational attainment. Although challenged, this is an area of high opportunity with 3 universities, 2 lakes, a developing creek trailway system, and close proximity to two major economic centers – Downtown San Antonio and Port San Antonio. Most importantly, it is the cultural heart of San Antonio to which many of our city’s residents and businesses trace their roots.
