Community  neighborhood development

Basila Frocks

Former Basila Frocks Co. is a 20,000 square-foot building located at 500 N. Zarzamora on the corner of W. Martin St. It was founded in the 1900s by Nicholas and Marie Basila an immigrant Syrian family that used the building to manufacture ready-to-wear dresses.

Prosper West San Antonio is leading the effort to renovate the building in partnership with The DreamOn Group, a local family-owned firm that offers an innovative and integrated approach to curating, developing, constructing, and managing projects for both public and private sector clients.

The conceptual floor plans would include 1,000 square feet for community meeting space and will become the new headquarters for Prosper West San Antonio.

Basila Frocks Co. is currently available for pre-lease for office/medical/retail spaces and plans to house anywhere from 15-20 businesses.  For more information Contact Maureen Moulton at DH Realty Partners at 210.421.9144 or view the online pre-lease brochure.

In March of 2016, the Office of Historic Preservation published A Stich in Time, a cultural history report of the Basila Frocks Co. Building detailing the architectural, cultural, and social significance of the property. Click the link below to view the report.

Under other ownership, the building has been home to restaurants, clinics, offices, and a grocery store. The upper floor was for many years a ballroom that hosted wedding receptions, quinceañeras and other social events and at one point was even a wrestling gym.

Render of Community Neighborhood

The vision for re-development is a mixed-use commercial space and a vibrant focal point of culture, music, and entertainment. The planned revitalization building is easily accessible by bus, car or within walking distance of downtown San Antonio.
